Finding Children's Books using the Online Catalog

1.  Enter a title, partial title, keyword or author's name in the "Find This" box.

2.  In the "Find Results In" box, select the appropriate type of search.  For example:

  • If you know the exact title, select "Left Anchored Title". Omit articles such as "the", "a", "an" at the beginning of the title.  For example, type in secret garden rather than the secret garden.

  • If you want any children's books about a particular topic, choose "Keyword Relevance Search".

  • Select "Title Keyword Browse" to find books with your keyword in the title (this will focus your search to the most relevant books).

  • If you know the author, select "Author Browse" and type in the author's name Last Name First.

3.  **For all children's book searches, select "Juvenile-Harsh" from the 3rd menu box (Quick Limit), so that the computer will only search children's books, not the entire collection**.
